![]() ![]() ![]() Idk how to end this whoops lol but feel free to share your thoughts? maybe it’s just me and just posting non-gaming related content onto smosh GAMES instead of pit or even main (ex: what’re those, that drawing something series, meme review) honestly preferred the old format of what’re those but that’s a matter of opinion (this entire post is now that i think about it) reaction videos and compilations (not to mention the fan made compilations they’re taking down, but that’s a whole other problem) the mystery clothing series on games is now becoming an overused concept imo also i just think the content has been relatively on the meh side lately. however, it’s also another thing that we as a fandom practically have to request for some of our faves to be in more videos because they’re not invited back often due to the fact that they’re not the #1 fan favorites who get a lot of clicks. now that videos have inclined to be more focused on shayne, damien, courtney, and ian-who also hasn’t been in a smosh games video in a month-i’m just desperate to see the FULL found family dynamic that was shown on the regular before.ĭon’t get me wrong, i LOVE the fact that they’re not under defy anymore and have more creative freedom, and i understand that some members want to focus on some independent projects of theirs. I think the real reason why i came to value smosh summer games and smosh winter games so so much this time around is because they were focused on the ENTIRE gang. It just feels like they’re catering to the causal viewer, and that’s what’s going to eventually make them loss their deep fan base. At the very least, they should communicate more openly with their fans about major choices like leaving out Olivia, Noah, and Keith. They could be including more people and a regular basis and making more dynamic content. Overall, beyond people leaving on their own accord, which Smosh had no control over, there’s no reason why they can’t still be putting out content that reaches all fans. Maybe that’s just me, but it seems like Smosh has stopped trying to create an array of content and have just decided that their cookie cutter templates are all they’re going to focus on. I also thinks that’s why they have the same, “popular” cast members in videos as well. And I think that’s because those videos aren’t as likely to be clicked on by the average viewer. Things like squad vlogs or casual/unstructured videos are few and far between. If you look through the past few months of games/pit videos, they seem to appeal to viewers who are causal or unfamiliar with Smosh. However, I think they can find a better balance between putting out profitable content and content all fans will like. They have cast and crew to pay, these are there jobs and they need an income. I get that to some extent, they need to rebuild after the huge loss from defy. My speculation is that they’re choices recently have been based purely off money and business. Don’t get me wrong, what defy did as an MCN was shitty, but their content was dynamic and fun. I love that they’re out from under defy and get to do their own things now, but I honestly I thought defy content was better. Of all Smosh eras, this is the worst to me. I think for me, it boils down to the fact that I just don’t like the content and I miss the family Smosh had created. The content feels simple and repetitive, there’s a lack of diversity among the cast, it’s just not the Smosh we knew and loved. I think that most of the community on tumblr is under the same opinion that Smosh isn’t the same, but not in a good way. While everyone has been sharing their feeling on the new Smosh, I might as well chime in.
